Welcome to the Great Torrington Cavaliers
Who we are
The Torrington Cavaliers have a long history of burning giant themed bonfires since 1970, and generally do so every five years or so and have raised over a half a million poundd for various charities and good causes so far, as well as creating a lot of fun in the process. We're now back with another ambitious project - the iconic WHITE HOUSE.
Bonfire 2027
The Bonfire will be a life size replica of the White House measuring approximately 50 meters long, 6 meters deep (plus shortened Portico), and 18 meters high.
Our aim is to make a profit of £150,000.00 for Local Charities, and create some good humoured Cavalier fun.

2021 – Mayflower burning smashes fundraising record
The Torrington Cavaliers are over the moon to announce that their August bank holiday BIG BURN event raised an incredible £80,000 for charity! A share of that will go to the four named charities – Devon Air Ambulance; North Devon Hospice; Guide Dogs for the Blind Association; and Torrington Commons Conservators – with the rest going into a pot that smaller local charities and good causes can apply to. Cavaliers Chairman Mark Keeley said “We’re absolutely delighted. Considering the event was postponed due to the Covid pandemic and then with the uncertainty this year, it’s a great result. Our best yet!” Around 9,000 people saw a full-size replica of the Mayflower go up in flames alongside a spectacular pyromusical and huge fireworks finale. Earlier in the evening the crowd also enjoyed live music and Rowlands fair rides.
